Create Collection Tour

Kristy Lea (@quitetplay) has released her first fabric line through Riley Blake Fabrics, named CREATE, and today is my day to tell you how awesome it is! It was so nice during this pandemic to have happy fabric to play with! I decided to design a new foundation paper-pieced pattern to celebrate called Rainbow Dash.

I focused on the tone on tone small scale prints to play with for this pillow cover to fit an IKEA pillow.

These yummy saturated prints are perfect to add to your stash and I HAD to make a mask from the larger prints (who doesn’t think masks when looking at gorgeous fabric these days?) Larger scale bright geometric bees and hexies are so much fun for masks as well as fussy cutting for your current projects.

Rainbow Dash was inspired by a mosaic designed by The Pallet People Shop .

They post a mosaic every Monday, and I have several of their pieces in my collection. Several years ago, I talked to Tori about designing some patterns inspired by their projects and she said yes!

Rainbow Dash is made from 4 FPP blocks. Print out the templates.  Piece together the 12" x 24" templates, by laying out the pages and matching the light gray lines (at the page edges).  Templates are color-coded for you!

The 5" x 10" size is perfect for a pillow (pictured) or table runner OR use the larger 12" x 24" block to make a larger quilt. Make the blocks identical or mix it up!

One of my favorite parts was finding another perfect use for my Sewtites magnets (above). They were perfect for matching up the sections perfectly because pins always cause it to shift where the Sewtites hold it securely with no shifting at all!

Here are some other colorways you can use for Rainbow Dash.
